Speaker D.Razumkov bolsters ties with Hellenic Republic, reaffirming Ukraine's NATO-EU focus

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

"Ukraine's priorities have not changed - we are still moving towards the European Union and NATO,"  -- Dmytro Razumkov, VRU’s Chairman

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Ukraine Georgios Poukamissas.

Dmytro Razumkov thanked the Ambassador for his assistance in developing mutually beneficial Ukrainian-Greek relations, in particular, for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also expressed his gratitude for Greece's sturdy standpoint concerning Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.

During the conversation, the speaker emphasized that Ukraine's European integration priorities have not changed. "As before, we are heading towards the European Union and NATO," he said, thanking the Greek people for their continued support of Ukraine in Europe and worldwide. The politician also hoped for a fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and Greece in the very near future.

The speaker of the Ukrainian parliament highlighted that the present exceptional circumstances, when all the three verticals of executive power have pooled for the sake of reforms, do force the Verkhovna Rada to function in a "turbo mode", duly tying up all loose ends of the past years.

“We do understand the responsibility and kind of carte blanche that the Ukrainian people have given to new politicians.  At present, one of the priority areas is implementing reforms aimed to un-shade Ukraine’s economy,” he stated.

According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, this will open up opportunities for investors to do business in Ukraine.

In his turn, Georgios Poukamissas greatly appreciated the level of the past two electorial campaigns in Ukraine: "These are achievements that the Ukrainian people should be proud of, new politicians are quite well-off at making their first steps".

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary emphasized that Greece would continue to support Ukraine, its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
