"Today’s prime concerns are establishing an effective cooperation between countries, prompt decision-making and monitoring over implementation of these decisions," -- Ruslan Stefanchuk during his meeting with Nicolae Popescu

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met today with the delegation of the Republic of Moldova headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicolae Popescu.

Participants of the meeting discussed bilateral cooperation issues, in particular those related to air and international highroad service.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Moldovan delegation for the consistent support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that Moldova is a friendly neighbour for Ukraine.

“Our cooperation, our relationships are very important for each of us. There are many key issues that we will be able to address during our follow-up meetings,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.

Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized that the Presidential team, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine are interested in wider and deeper relations and more effective cooperation with the Republic of Moldova.

The politician stressed that there are many points of contact between the two countries, in particular, in working out different economic development strategies, implementation of infrastructure improvement projects, including transport connections, and further development of humanitarian inter-relations.

He also said there could be a closer cooperation in issues related to the resolution of military conflicts, and in Transdniestria, in particular. "We are committed to the maximum liberalization of the relations and the ratification of all the agreements, and we look forward to your support," the Ukrainian official averred his interlocutor.

According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Parliament of Ukraine is prepared to discuss all necessary legislative initiatives, including ratification of important agreements, adaptation of national legislation to standards of the European Union and so forth.

In his turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Popescu also expressed his high hopes for further fruitful cooperation.
