Speaker A. Parubiy sends U.S. Vice President M. Pence a letter calling for additional economic sanctions on Russia
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Andriy Parubiy has sent today an official letter to His Excellency Mr. Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States of America and President of the United States Senate
In this letter he thanked M. Pence for his ongoing support to Ukraine and informed him about the recent developments in the Ukrainian Azov Region, culminated in seizure of the Ukrainian vessels and their wounded crews.
The politician also clued up the Vice President about the institution of martial law in Ukraine in response to the above Russia’s act of navy aggression.
He also called on to impose “additional economic sanctions on the Russian Federation” as a consequence for its unlawful, dangerous, and aggressive behaviour.
“Ukraine, the United States, and the international community have taken strong and decisive actions since 2014 to counter Russia’s illegal and aggressive behavior, including the imposition of economic sanctions. It is crucial that the rule of law and international norms be forcefully upheld by creating consequences for those countries who seek to undermine the rights of other countries for their own national gain.
We encourage you to use all available opportunities to stop Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine and its clear breach of international rules and norms, by imposing additional energy and financial sanctions,” runs the letter, in particular.
