Chairman meets IMF Mission delegation headed by Ron van Rooden

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy met with an IMF expert group led by the IMF Mission head Ron van Rooden

The head of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked the International Monetary Fund for cooperation, especially during the last years.  "We highly appreciate this long-term cooperation," said the politician, and called IMF’s assistance to be crucial in 2014, when Ukraine had been in a very difficult position through the Russian aggression.

He stressed the need for further close cooperation with IMF on the path to reforms in Ukraine. "I value highly our cooperation, especially in carrying out the anti-corruption reform and creating the anti-graft court. I hope the cooperation will be very fruitful in the future as well," he said.

The Chairman noted the parliament has plunged in discussions over the draft 2019 Ukraine’s state budget. “We very well understand how much this document is important not only for our home economic development, but also for cooperation with the Monetary Fund”. He expected that the document would be approved by November 22. A. Parubiy also emphasized that cooperation with the Fund as well as the Fund’s recommendations are very important for the adoption of the state budget of Ukraine.

The head of parliament also pointed out a high level of cooperation with the government, in particular – with ministerial line committees.

In turn, the IMF Mission head Ron van Rooden underscored that in order to ensure macroeconomic stability of the country’s economy the budget should be well balanced - despite the next year elections.

He then wished success and continued fruitful cooperation.
