"Constant support of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in the conditions of escalation of the situation in the East of Ukraine is important for us," Dmytro Razumkov

Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics, tMinister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Estonia Eva-Maria Liimets expressed their support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the conditions of aggression in the East, as well as its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Chairpersons of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov stressed that Ukraine is grateful to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia for the constant support of our state in the conditions of ongoing aggression.
“You are well aware of the situation developing on the borders of our state. It is important for us to have a common position on international platforms, in particular, the PACE and the Baltic Plus. Equally important is a common position on sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada expressed gratitude to the Baltic States for the significant humanitarian, financial and technical assistance they provide to Ukraine, and noted the programs under which the rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian servicepersons in the conflict zone took place. "I understand that today the projects are partially suspended, as we are all in the conditions of the Covid-19, but I am confident that we will soon be able to further implement them," said Dmytro Razumkov.
In addition, the parties discussed Ukraine's aspirations to the European Union and NATO. According to the Speaker of the Parliament, for our state this is not only a common vision of the present, but also a position enshrined in the Constitution.
"This is a choice made by the Ukrainian people in 2013-2014, and in fact it is a choice for which we continue to pay a high price, because almost every day we receive sad news from the front," he said.
The issue of continuing the implementation of reforms in Ukraine was also discussed during the meeting. The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada noted that the reforms in our country are not happening as fast as we would like, and this is due to various factors, including the coronavirus pandemic and the aggravation of the situation in the east of the country.
Separately, the parties discussed the construction of Nord Stream-2. According to the Speaker of the Parliament, Ukraine is and remains a reliable transit country, but Nord Stream-2 is not an economic project for Russia, but a political one. "Ukraine and the Baltic States understand and have a common position on this issue, not only at the bilateral level, but also on various international platforms, where we are the only voice in this regard," summed up Dmytro Razumkov.
