Members of the Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Regions and Autonomous Republic of Crimea, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations met with representatives of ethnic communities in Melitopol and Odesa.
On May 25, the deputies visited Melitopol in Zaporizhia region and met with representatives of national minorities. Melitopol is the intercultural capital of Ukraine and according to the results of 2020 of the intercultural index, it took the first place in Europe.
During the meetings, the Committee members noted that in Melitopol unique conditions have been created for the development of national minorities and active cooperation of national communities with local authorities has been established.
The next meeting took place on May 26 in Odessa. "After meeting with representatives of national minorities in Odessa, I was once again convinced that we are on the right track. Оnly after hearing people we will be able to make really high-quality and compromise decisions," said Dmytro Lubinets, Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee.
The members of the Committee noted that with each city visited, the list of issues to be addressed is growing. "This convincingly testifies to the correctness of the chosen path for writing the Law on National Minorities, because everyone should be heard," Dmytro Lubinets stressed.
