At a meeting of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, MPs heard reports on the work in 2020 of two ministers - Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko and Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna.
The Minister of Culture and Information Policy summarized the work of the department last year, outlined the priorities of the institution for 2021: quality cultural services and consolidation of Ukrainian society; cultural heritage, cultural values ??and national memory; art, creative industries. Among the plans for this year, the Minister named the promotion of Ukraine and its potential in the international arena using the brand "Ukraine Now"; monitoring threats to national interests and national security in the information sphere, creation of the online museum of Russian disinformation and manipulation, support of an online platform for learning the Crimean Tatar language, conducting the nationwide campaign to increase media literacy of the population.
Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna focused on the activities of the Ministry in terms of protection of children's rights. Over the last year, the Ministry, together with the Parliament, has also achieved a number of significant results: the issue of protection of children's housing rights (housing / compensation, the possibility for children with disabilities to live in foster families under 23) has been regulated, work is underway to reform the institutional care system, implement social initiatives to support foster families and family-type orphanages, and increase benefits.
Based on the results of the discussion, the MPs decided to take note of the report of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and declare it satisfactory. The members of the Committee took note of the report of the Ministry of Social Policy and drew attention to the remarks that were made.
