The Committee on State Building, Local Governance, Regional and Urban Development held the committee hearing on "Professional training of public servants: European experience and prospects for Ukraine"

Chairperson of the Committee Andrii Klochko stressed that the committee hearings were organized to hold a broad discussion on current challenges and problems of the system of professional training of civil servants, which hinder the implementation of European standards of public administration in Ukraine, and also expressed confidence that their results will find effective and innovative solutions in the field of improving the system of professional training of civil servants and local government officials.

MP Oleksandr Kornienko noted that high-quality reform of public administration and local self-government is impossible without resolving the issue of their staffing. According to him, "the introduction of new rules and procedures for training managers will create favorable conditions for the development of Ukraine as a competitive state, which ensures the constitutional rights and freedoms of every citizen, provides quality services."

The need to further improve the system of professional training of civil servants and local government officials was noted in the speeches of Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov and Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Ambassador Matti Maasikas.

The participants of the hearings discussed the current state and prospects of improving domestic legislation in the field of professional training of civil servants, got acquainted with the relevant international experience.

Based on the results of a broad discussion and detailed analysis of the situation, the participants of the hearings formed preliminary recommendations for further development of the system of professional training of civil servants, which are planned to be discussed and approved at the Committee meeting in the near future.

The committee hearings were held on April 26 by video conference and were held jointly with the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science with the support of the Committee's international partners.

The event was attended by MPs, representatives of executive authorities, associations of local governments, NGOs, international and domestic experts.
