The Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked the Committee of the International Relations of the Parliament of Georgia for its Statement on the situation in Ukraine

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

The members of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine welcome the Statement of the Committee of the International Relations of the Parliament of Georgia on the situation in Ukraine.
In their Statement, Georgian colleagues expressed concern about the increase in ceasefire violations by the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine and the recent unprecedented increase in the presence of Russian forces in the Ukrainian Crimea and along Ukraine's eastern borders.
The Committee of the International Relations of the Parliament of Georgia calls on the international community to continue to strongly support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity against the destructive actions and aggressive policies of the Russian Federation.
The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation expresses its gratitude to foreign colleagues for practical and political support and assistance in Ukraine's struggle for independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The text of the Statement and the letter of thanks are attached.

Statement of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia regarding the situation in Ukraine

We are deeply concerned by the increasing number of ceasefire violations by the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine and recent unprecedented military build-up of the Russian forces in Crimea, Ukraine and along Ukraine's eastern borders, as well as the Kremlin's aggressive rhetoric. We are alarmed by the statements of the high-ranking Russian politicians that serve the aim of undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as security and stability of Ukraine.
Georgia and Ukraine share history of special friendship and strategic partnership and we once again reiterate Georgia’s firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In addition, we welcome the deepened communication between NATO-Ukraine and support increased involvement of the Alliance in the Black Sea region, which we see as factor of greater stability.
Furthermore, we strongly believe that the current escalation poses paramount threat to not only Ukraine, but also to the wider Black Sea Region and to the European security architecture.
We call on international community to continue its strong support to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against destructive actions and aggressive policy of the Russian Federation.

The Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanks the Committee of the International Relations of the Parliament of Georgia for its support for Ukraine expressed in the Committee’s Statement in connection with the increasing number of ceasefire violations by the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine and the recent unprecedented military build-up of the Russian forces in Crimea, Ukraine and along Ukraine’s eastern borders.
We highly appreciate Georgia's support and share the opinion of our Georgian colleagues that the current escalation poses paramount threat not only to Ukraine, but also to the wider Black Sea Region and to the European security architecture in general.
The Committee expresses its deep gratitude to all foreign colleagues who provide both political and practical support and assistance in Ukraine's struggle for its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
