The Committee on Education, Science and Innovation recommends adopting as a basis and in general the draft law on certain issues of the end of the 2020/2021 school year

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

At the meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, MPs considered the draft law amending Section II "Final and Transitional Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Aimed at Providing Additional Social and Economic Guarantees with the spread of coronavirus diseas (COVID-19)" on certain issues of the end of the 2020/2021 school year No. 5014.
The Chairperson of the Committee noted that the issue is extremely important and debatable, as it is difficult to predict the development of the disease situation.
The purpose and task of the bill is to minimize the risk of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) when assessing the learning outcomes of pupils (students) who complete general secondary education, and they receive in the manner prescribed by law documents on complete general secondary education.
In terms of its content, it actually continues the practice used in the previous school year. The draft law provides for giving students the right to choose the type of assessment of their learning outcomes - through annual assessment, or state final certification, or state final certification in the form of external independent evaluation.
The speakers presented a model of state final certification and external independent evaluation in the conditions of quarantine restrictions.
Following the discussion, the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation recommends adopting as a basis and in general the draft law on certain issues of the end of the 2020/2021 school year.
