  • Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services

At its 20 July sitting, the committee scrutinized the draft bill No.3658 “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning enhanced support for the production of electricity from alternative energy sources”. The draft law is designed to accelerate the transition to a new, competitive model of supporting the renewable energy sector through holding support quotas auctions, to rebalance the statement of the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer" and to address the most pressing challenges of the industry. The committee recommended taking the bill on the second reading.

Committeemen also discussed the transformation and further development of Ukraine’s coal regions, the diversification of their economy and the implementation of projects aimed to resolve socio-economic problems prevailing over the territories where coal-mining companies are located.

The committee also saw into the second-reading bill No.2098 “On amendments to Section ‘Final and Transitional Provisions’ of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the electricity market’ as to supplying energy to ensure the functioning of joint property of a multi-apartment building”. The committee recommended taking the bill on the second reading.

Members of the committee have also approved the committee’s operating plan for the upcoming fourth session.
