“Economic relations of Ukraine and Latvia need that the positive trend be maintained, -- Dmytro Razumkov

During his official visit to the Republic of Latvia, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Latvia Krisjanis Karins.

In the course of their talks, the speaker thanked the prime minister of Latvia for his unwavering support to Ukraine in protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the assistance in rehabilitating Ukrainian military personnel, political prisoners and children affected by the war in eastern Ukraine. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada specially emphasized the importance of having an integrated, common position on the issue in the international arena.

Dmytro Razumkov thanked for public support of Ukraine, including within the framework of PACE.  "You are heard throughout Europe," he said, adding: - We feel supported both at the level of conducting reforms as well as in helping to rehabilitate our citizens".

Dmytro Razumkov also noted that it is necessary to continue the positive trend in increasing trade turnover and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia.

"Not only shared history and present-day life unite us, but also our common future. Ukraine is ready for further cooperation in the economic sphere,” the head of parliament underscored.

In his turn, Krisjanis Karins noted that Ukraine and Latvia are not just neighbours but friendly countries, it is thus necessary to look for ways to further develop relations between the states.  He also stressed that the Republic of Latvia is fully open and willing to cooperate with Ukraine.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada invited the premier Krisjanis Karins to attend the international conference "Zero Corruption", which is scheduled to be held in April 2020 in Ukraine.
