I.Herashchenko co-opens first veteran open space

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

Iryna Herashchenko, as the Presidential envoy for a peaceful settlement of the Donetsk-Luhansk clash, took part on November 1 in the opening of the “Veteran Hub” project – the first open space hub for veterans and public (social) organizations that deal with Ukrainian defenders

"It is sometimes harder to get back from the war than to take up arms.  Many soldiers have post traumatic syndrome, psychological disorders, seeking for themselves in peaceful life. That is why it is so important to pay attention to their psychological and social rehabilitation, to help them find trade. I consider this initiative to be very important and I would like to thank all the project organizers," said I. Herashchenko, giving comments to journalists.

The Veteran Hub project will be a platform for communication between veteran and public organizations dealing with problems of veterans. The hub plans to hold presentations, lectures, discussions and implement projects. From now on, Ukrainian veterans, security and defence workers as well as their relatives are having their own space, where they will be able to have social services centrally.

In addition, another important function of the Veteran Hub is rendering support to the process of adaptation and integration to peaceable life.

Veteran Hub is to provide veterans with psychological counseling, help fight post-traumatic stress disorder, provide legal support, advise on getting a combatant status, and assist in making occupational choice.

In attendance, there also were Aleksandr Vinnikov, Head of NATO Representation to Ukraine, Oleksandr Tretiakov, head of the Committee on Affairs of Veterans, Combatants, ATO Participants and Disabled People, Dmytro Bilotserkovets, a member of the Committee on Budget, Vitalii Klychko, Mayor of Kyiv, and other persons of mark.
