H.Hopko meets Malaysian ambassador to reinforce further interstate ties
On October 26, Hanna Hopko, the head of the foreign affairs committee, met the Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah

She congratulated the Malaysian diplomat on taking the office and expressed gratitude for sustained support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as the policy of non-recognition of Crimea’s annexation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation, in particular, the necessity of launching joint inter-governmental bodies, enhancing the legal base and interaction at international organizations, in particular, the UN, ASEAN, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), holding further meetings of joint commissions on defence, trade and political issues, expansion of bilateral trade, prospects for the introduction of visa-free travel for citizens of Ukraine and Malaysia, as well as intensification of contacts between parliamentarians.
Hanna Hopko expressed her hope that Malaysia would support the UN General Assembly’s resolutions on human rights in the Crimea and Sevastopol and on demilitarization of the Crimea made at its recent session, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
The committee head informed the ambassador about the internal political situation in Ukraine, the trend of events in the east of Ukraine, as well as the steps towards a peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas. Among other things, H.Hopko emphasized the importance of prosecuting the perpetrators of downing the MH17 flight of the Malaysian Airlines.
In turn, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah emphasized the principled support of the initiative to deploy a UN peacekeeping mission in eastern Ukraine, as well as the importance of further intensifying trade relations between the two countries and promoting the process of mutual investments.
