Committee on Economic Policy

The committee has taken stock of its work during the 8th session of the eighth convocation Parliament. Ten sittings covering 27 issues were held within the round.

The committee heard the 2017 Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine and the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine performance reports; held hearings on the competition policy in Ukraine and the world; submitted for next following approval by the Parliament a variety of laws (No.4666, 8296) and resolutions (8060, 8125, 3131). During the session, the committee’s task groups have handled over 5000 amendments and proposals tabled for the then bills under debate.

Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety

The committeemen had a look at how the Lviv oblast’s coal producers work as well as at the working conditions they deliver to their workers. To this aim the committee leaders visited on July 19 the state-run enterprise “LvivVuhillia” and one of its coal mines “Mezhyrichenska” nearby the city of Chervonohrad.

There were ample discussions over actual problems and challenges the enterprise and the whole branch had faced, as well as the solutions to overcome the said bottlenecks.

On July 13, the Parliament passed the bill No.8362 amending the 2018 state budget law with the aim of better financing the said branch. The bill is thus to give more money to coal miners in 2018 – for the wage arrears and retrofit installation there will be assigned up to UAH 1.4 billion.

The coal mining was observed to be in acute need of apparently much heavier investing for modernization and further development of the branch.
