National Police Day: Chairperson’s word of congratulation

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

Dear friends,

I am delighted to extend my sincere congratulations to you on the occasion of the Day of the National Police of Ukraine.

The National Police was established in 2015. It was not just a fancy change of the name only, as it has become a radical transformation of the whole law-enforcement machinery -- being one of the most effective reforms in the post-revolutionary Ukraine.

Nowadays, the Ukrainian Police is defending those democratic values and conceptions the Maidan was then standing for.

Your profession is one of the most crucial, nervous, perilous and at the same time honourable. This is you who are protecting rights and liberties of Ukrainians. Despite the hardships yet coming from the obsolete system you are eagerly and diligently making your job to safeguard our civilians.

Thank you for your self-sacrificing and difficult work. I am proud to wish you and your families a robust health, fireside comfort and welfare.
