The Chairman of the Committee on State Building and Local Self-Government Davyd Zhvaniya discussed issue of local self-government reform in Ukraine with the representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Davyd Zhvaniya noted that the local self-government reform is “one of the main tasks of the leadership of the state, as it leads to the systematic changes in the whole country.” According to him, the reform is directly connected with the formation of civic society. The Chairman of the Committee underlined also that it will become the main reform for other positive changes in the system of power relations in the state.  

People’s deputy got acquainted the UNDP representatives with the strategic directions of the Committee’s activities for the period of work of Parliament of the seventh convocation and ensured that realization of the reform is the main task for the Committee members. Davyd Zhvaniya hopes also that “in the hall of the Verkhovna Rada there will be many supporters of the local self-government reform.”  

The UNDP Deputy Country Director in Ukraine Olena Panova also spoke for the necessity of such reform in Ukraine.
