I.Herashchenko: Stop shamming ‘deeply concerned’

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

Iryna Herashchenko: “The global community’s response to Russia’s unlawful acts seems to be inadequately indulgent since the mere fact of having hostages in the very heart of Europe constitutes an overt demolition of the fundamentals of democracy as such”.

As a part of the Parliamentary delegation, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko partakes in a joint sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Council Ukraine-NATO and the Sub-Committee on NATO Partnerships of the NATO PA Political Committee taking place in Brussels, Belgium. The sitting tends to strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue within the NATO partnerships, to discussing the avenues of cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance, and the issue of counteraction to the Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine. During the meeting, the Ukrainian party pronounced its position for enhancing collaboration with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and, in particular, introduction of NATO standards in every area of Ukraine’s life. Sanctions against Russia must be kept and even redoubled until the complete restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Particular attention was paid to methods used in the hybrid war against Ukraine and counteracting measures to be applied; to the need in a closer collaboration on the rehabilitation programme formatted for the ATO men demobilized, including their psychological recovery.

The Presidential envoy on the peaceful settlement of the Donetsk-Luhansk clash Iryna Herashchenko informed those present about the security and humanitarian situation in the Donbas.

“The world community’s reaction to Russia’s unlawful doings appears improperly bland since the mere fact of having hostages in the very hub of Europe constitutes an overt demolition of the fundamentals of democracy as such,” commented Iryna Herashchenko.
