H.Hopko’s UK visit briefly

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The Committee head Hanna Hopko’s visit to the UK is under way. A series of meetings with the British colleagues is scheduled to take place -- with Tom Tugendhat, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, in particular. H.Hopko became one of the first foreign public officers whom the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee met with.

H.Hopko thanked Great Britain for the steady bolstering Ukraine in keeping to the reforms, upgrading the Ukrainian Armed Forces, economic cooperation, financial and tech aid to the reforms, endevours in strengthening Ukraine’s defences.  She also stressed the further need in turning up the pressure over the Russian Federation and opposing the Kremlin’s propaganda.

In the course of the meeting the parties discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine and the occupied Crimea, the Ukraine’s vision on the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas as well as the Russian offer that misrepresents the entire idea.

Hanna Hopko invited Tom Tugendhat to visit Ukraine.

The committee head is also supposed to participate in the 25th Anniversary of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
